Alabama has no single statewide clerk address for all public records. For Circuit and District Court cases, select the filing county in the Alabama county directory and contact its Circuit Clerk. City ordinance and municipal traffic files remain with the municipal clerk, while wills, estates, guardianships, name changes, adoptions, and recorded marriage certificates remain with the county Probate Court.
Records held by statewide agencies use separate official channels. The Alabama Department of Corrections operates the current state-prison inmate search. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency maintains personal criminal history, driver records, and the sex-offender registry. The Alabama Department of Public Health Center for Health Statistics issues covered marriage and divorce certificates. These products do not replace the source case file held by a clerk.
